Save file locations
Saves are not in the install folder. The 2011 game uses a LocalAppData directory and a Steam remote folder. Remastered uses a different Steam app id, plus distinct Epic and GOG Galaxy paths. Back up the files before you experiment.

2011 original
Local saves: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Saints Row The Third\. Steam cloud copies: the Steam userdata folder, app id 55230, remote subfolder. The wiki counts 23 manual slots and one autosave slot. I am not listing a GOG path for the 2011 game because the sources I used did not isolate one. That gap stays open.
Remastered
Steam: userdata, app id 978300, remote, files ending in .sr3s_pc. Epic: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Saints Row The Third\Remastered\ with the same extension. GOG Galaxy: the storage tree for id 53610945248137475, under Shared\Files, same extension. Those three are the paths I will quote. They are not interchangeable. Copying a Steam file into the Epic folder is not a documented converter.
If the game “does not save,” confirm you are looking at the folder for the store you launched, not the other app id. Cloud sync can also overwrite a local copy on the next launch. I have no official import from the 2011 slots into Remastered.
